El Salvador 2019: Perspectives from Presidential Candidate Nayib Bukele

Candidate Nayib Bukele Speaking at an Event

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO CHANGES IN MR. BUKELE'S SCHEDULE

On January 18, the Center for Latin American Studies and the Latin America Leadership Program are pleased to welcome presidential candidate in El Salvador Nayib Bukele, who will share his perspectives on El Salvador’s most pressing challenges, his vision for the country’s future, and the political and personal trajectory which led him to run for the highest political office in El Salvador.

In 2017 Nayib Bukele, who was mayor of San Salvador from 2015 to 2018, broke off from the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front and created the Nuevas Ideas party. Mr. Bukele is now running as a third-party presidential candidate under the Nuevas Ideas - Gran Alianza por la Unidad Nacional - Cambio Democrático coalition. If he wins the elections on February 4, he will become the youngest president in El Salvador’s history.

This event is off the record. If you need special accommodations, please email clas@georgetown.edu. A good faith effort will be made to honor all requests.

Nayib Bukele served as the mayor of San Salvador from 2015 to 2018 and is a current presidential candidate in El Salvador.
